Me & the technical stuff
Sometimes it's nice to know a bit more....
Me:Joan Thirlaway – May 2008, just turned 60 and now the proud owner of a free bus pass, look out world here I come.
Location:
Where's Gilsland? (grid ref:363500E 566500N)
Right on the line of Hadrian’s Wall it's a village with heart, that divides itself between two counties, Northumberland & Cumbria.
Not a pretty village but it's really great place to live :)
Just 10 minutes from the dramatic Crag scenery of the best bits of Hadrian's Wall and the gentler scenery of the North Pennines (a designated Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty AONB)
Within a 90 minute drive of Gilsland you'll find the English Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales the fabulous Northumbrian Coast.
And should you wish to add a tad of culture as a change from great scenery, then Newcastle is hard to beat.
Gilsland - a great base for a holiday ;)
Gear:
Nikon camera and lenses.
Lee neutral density (ND) graduated filters – soft version – expensive but worth every penny IMHO.
Carbon fibre tripod
2gb CF cards which give me 123 Raw images.
Whistle – just in case – mobile phone reception here is patchy at best.
Fuji Finepix S100FS - for those days when it doesn't look promising but you just need to know you have a camera with you.
